Who Are The Catholic Daughters of the Americas?
The CDA is the largest and oldest organization of Catholic lay women in the world with membership of approximately 114,000. Organizations are formed in the United States, Guam, Mexico, The Dominican Republic, Saipan, The Virgin Island and Puerto Rico.
The organization was formed in 1903 by the Knights of Columbus and has its national office in New York. The CDA is the largest affiliate of the National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW).
Under the patronage of the Blessed Mother, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas are united by their faith in Jesus Christ, in their devotion to the church and the Holy See. This organization has programs and activities, which take in a vast scope of work in many fields, beginning at the Parish level and extending to all concerns of today's Church and Society. Catholic Daughter women donate to charities, administer scholarship programs and strive “to be helping hands where there is pain, poverty, sorrow or sickness.” They enjoy each other’s company at meetings and work hard for their parishes and communities. Deeply spiritual, together they share faith, love of God and a distinctly feminine spirituality alluded to by Pope John Paul II when he spoke of the necessity of “feminine genius” in today’s world.
Mission Statement
